When I arrived to Quebec City, I took a walk in the light drizzle near the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac to get a feel for the local culture. Turns out, Old Quebec City lights up at night in dazzling colors. It was beautiful to see puddles reflecting the old buildings at twilight.
Photo tip: Even when it’s raining, photographers should try to capture the magical blue-colored sky, which occurs for about 15 minutes or so after the sun sets. In fact, there’s an app called Sunrise Sunset! that uses your smartphone’s GPS to notify you of when dawn and dusk occur in your current location. Pack a tripod and a cable release (and a hot shoe level if you’re serious), and remember to turn off the image stabilization for exposures that last over one second.
