Two of Quebec City‘s greatest landmarks are the Parliament Building and the Fontaine de Tourny. Many images of the iconic fountain depict the Parliament Building in the background, and if you’re there at the right time of year, there are gardens filled with gorgeous tulips and other colorful flowers around it.
I was photographing the fountain in the late evening from all the typical vantage points when I noticed there was almost a full moon. I moved my camera closer and wider to include the moon as it peeked through the clouds. I liked the fountain’s colored lights, which created a beautiful color contrast against the blue sky and the street lamps. The moon created a moody ambience, which felt like just the right pitch for a slightly different approach to a frequently photographed landmark.
